II PAUSE
DAYS OF OUR LIVES — Set change?
The buzz over at Burbank Studios is that the NBC lot has been sold. Reportedly, DAYS will find a new home sometime this year. My suggestion? If DAYS moves to a studio close to Ken Corday’s favourite golf course, he could keep a better eye on Dena Higley. Corday’s office could double as the Brady Pub!

As for the possible studio move, a DAYS rep tells The Nelson Ratings she had no intel on the rumour.

Interesting. I have that Burbank address so firmly planted in my brain that I'm not sure I can handle them getting a new one, lol.

I read somewhere that the new owners were renting it back to NBC for 5 years.

Maybe, but since the G-d awful rapemi crap has stopped, the ratings have gone up. Time will tell

That's very true. They started going up when we had honest to goodness GOOD Lumi scenes in October, and they've stayed on the rise. Sure we haven't had any Lumi, but the key is that there has been no RAPEMI. Most of us are still around and are keeping tabs on the show while we wait for Ali's maternity leave (which seems to have now started whether she's ready or not, lol) to end. Give us romance instead of rapemance and we'll watch.

I think a slumping economy probably helps a bit too. A few more people find themselves at home while Days is on instead of at work... (of course in theory it should help all of the soaps, but I guess it depends on what the demographics of each soap's audience are. Days has traditionally had a large percentage of college & university viewers. Logically a large percentage of them would have moved into the workforce over the years).

There was an interesting bit on the news a couple of weeks ago about how the economy may doom soap as there are a lot of car companies that advertise and with lack of funds and falling ratings, they may not sink their advertising dollars into soaps, which hurts the show

How many car ads actually air during soaps though? I don't recall seeing many up here in Canada, but I'll keep an eye on it as I edit clips in the next little while. From what I can tell from Global Edmonton, Days will be doomed if Pizza 73 goes out of business (and it's not likely - their wings are delicious ;))

I've never thought "car ads" when I think of soap ads. Detergent and other cleaning products, baby food, diapers, birth control products, processed food, yes. Cars, not so much.
Do you remember what she told him? She took her lover’s hand, and she said, “just because something is intangible doesn't mean that it's not real.” Lucas, no matter what happens, no matter what we’ve been through, no matter what I say, you will always be in my heart. -- Sami Brady, November 2007

I can't think of many car commericals during Days.

IA, that Ejole has helped too. I like them together but cna't wait for this paticular sl to be over.

A good romance Lucas and Sami style would make the summer complete. Time for the writers to get it right this time.
