Sami had a brain this week!

Every time I see Sami with a brain and/or a modicum of self-respect, I miss her.

I liked her interaction with Max at the Pub. I loved that she called him "Uncle Max" in that smartass way. At least one of Max's nieces grasps the concept.

Her constant comparing of Grace to the twins was interesting. According to Sami, the twins BOTH teethed without running fevers, BOTH spit out their medicine, etc. Max claimed that since Grace is adopted, she is less likely to have these things in common with the twins. But, don't the twins supposedly have different gene pools as well? Unless of course, Johnny is a Horton, too...

I also liked Sami's horrified reaction when Brady came in beat up and her insistence that he go to the hospital. And of course, Brady trying to keep Sami out of trouble and Sami calling him "bossy little brother." This is a complete rewriting of history I can get behind.

(The dismissal of Melanie was funny, but how does Sami not know who Mel is by now?)

And then, when Sami learned that Philip had been shot, she instantly put the attack on Brady, the attack on Philip, and her psycho DiMera ex together.

She should try thinking more often! It becomes her.
Do you remember what she told him? She took her lover’s hand, and she said, “just because something is intangible doesn't mean that it's not real.” Lucas, no matter what happens, no matter what we’ve been through, no matter what I say, you will always be in my heart. -- Sami Brady, November 2007

He's not an ex, he's her rapist, she's his never was, never will be.

I'm going to have to actually watch this week's shows.

You mean there's actually a scene with Sami without Lucas or Will that I'm not going to roll my eyes and FF through this week? I guess I better pop in those tapes that have been piling up on top of my VCR/DVR

He's an ex-husband, unless the marriage was never valid due to the Roberts/Horton name change.

But as far as the show as told us, he is an ex as in "formerly married."

Actually, technically, he's not. Their marriage was annulled, which legally means it never was. Legality I know but it's one I enjoy in connection to this.

Well, you might roll your eyes a bit. During the Max/Brady stuff, she's on her way to the church to interrupt the EJole wedding.

And while the moment where she realizes that li'l Elvis had Philip shot is great, it's followed (next scene) by the rapist telling her that he'll tell her if he shot Philip if she admits that she loves him.

Well we all know the only way the rapist can get a "declaration of love" is by blackmailing Sami into it and it clearly isn't real. I guess you always want what you can't have.

My favorite part was Sami telling EJ that he is just as evil as Stefano. The disgust on her face as soon as Lexie said that Philip had been shot was a beautiful sight. Sami instantly knew who was behind it and most importantly she didn't just blame it on Stefano, she knew EJ was just as guilty.

As strange as it sounds, the Sami/EJ convo at the church is well worth watching, IMO. Once Sami heard about Philip, everything changed with her; the real Sami instantly appeared out of nowhere. It seemed like as Sami woke from her stupor, EJ emerged as the same obsessed, delusional character that was depicted in '06-'07. Not only does Sami tell EJ that he is out of his mind to think that she could possibly want to be with him, but she said it in the way that you know she means it, not just an emotional rant because she is angry. I actually believe she is permanently over her delusion that EJ is a "good" DiMera.

The Brady/Sami scenes were also great to see. I loved Melanie's comment to Max that they were looking at themselves in 10 years. I'm thinking of the Brady/Sami relationship as a correction of a previous re-write in history. When KL's Brady came to Salem, there was no explanation for why he and Sami didn't get along, so maybe this is one time that Dena is just restoring a history to what it should have always been.

Good call on Sami/Brady being a rewrite of a rewrite.

Shouldn't Sami have been over the delusion that EJ was a good Dimera the night he unbuttoned her blouse as she tried to get away from him? Or perhaps the night he RAPED her? Took her long enough but glad to see Sami acting a bit more like herself.

Good point. Perhaps I should have more accurately written that I am inclined to believe that the writers are giving up their delusion that fans would buy Sami viewing her rapist as a "good DiMera".

Yeah, well--they should have figured that out with the ratings drop. Better late than never?
