Hibernating until Lumi return Posts: 6,519 Group: Managers Member #731 Joined: March 17, 2007 Lucas & Sami have been simply Lumi-nous since 1993	I know how sad, angry, and frustrated a lot of us are about losing Bryan, Lucas, and Lumi. And we should be sad, angry, frustrated, and whatever else. But I think a lot of us are a little relieved too... Because in some ways, we won. Top 10 Reasons Lumi Fans Actually Won 10. Even with Lumi's premature end, we'll have SEVENTEEN YEARS of Lumi in various incarnations-- friends, enemies, parents, lovers, partners in crime, children, adults, etc. Anyone think Days is going to last long enough to let Safe air for seventeen years? Nope, me either. 9. The Miracle of the Will. Will was born in 1995 and has only been SORASed by 2 years. For most of the last 14 years, he's only had two faces, with the Carpenter twins and Chris Gerse having huge amounts of airtime for kids. All fanbases want their couple's children to be real characters growing up in real time with real ties to their parents... but it hardly ever happens. Much more typical is what's going on with Allie/Johnny, who have different faces every time you see them and whose milestones occur offscreen. Since Ali isn't a teen playing a mom anymore, her younger kids aren't immune to SORASing. 8. Five romantic proposals! Three planned weddings, including one that went off. Eventually, Sami will probably marry Rafe, but again, Days doesn't have enough time left for as many payoffs and as much buildup as Lumi fans got and endured. 7. "I saw you first," part 1. Sami had sex for the first time with Lucas. Sami had a child for the first time with Lucas. Sami spent most of her life with Lucas. And Lucas was portrayed for years as Sami's great, true love. They didn't break up because they wanted to; they broke up because they were blackmailed into it on pain of their family's deaths. This foundation inherently cheapens any future Sami pairings with a sarcastic "oh, is so-and-so the great love of your life this week?" The great love framework becomes meaningless once it's used, but the meaninglessness isn't retroactive. Lumi got something that future Sami pairings can't possibly get. 6. "I saw you first," part 2. Because we were fighting for Lumi back before Ali was the sought after leading woman juggling fanbases and love interests, we got more from her than any other fanbase will. She's at a different point in her life now with different priorities, which is understandable. That doesn't change the fact that once she casually and openly hung out on our boards, reading fic, arguing with us, playing word games with us, etc. It was cool. And it was only ours. 5. Further proof Lumi is a great super couple: all of the other great super couples (excepting Bo and Hope) are also defunct! 4. Bryan gets to be excited to move onto bigger and better, and we get to be excited for him 3. Look at those archives of videos, clips, and fic. The creativity Lumi brought out remains after Lumi leaves. 2. Even when you lose Lucas... you get to keep Second Chances. It's sticking around. That's good, right? And you know the number one reason Lumi fans actually won is.... 1. WE DON'T HAVE TO WATCH THIS GOD DAMN SHOW ANYMORE! We're free of the newbies and Passions rejects and destruction of the history and characters we invested in. We're free of the buildups with no payoff (John/Marlena's and Shawn/Belle's exits) and the "payoffs" with no buildup (Dan/Chloe, Max/Chelsea) There's no hope of Lucas and Lumi and our Lumily pulling us to keep tabs on the goings on in Salem. We're free! Days loves us enough to let us go. It's the nicest thing Days has done for us in ages. Meanwhile, Rapemi fans will get thrown crumbs as Golden Boy Galen gets the girl... and Safe fans will have to put up with their leading lady periodically running back to the man who raped her and tried to kill her family. I'll take my position over theirs.

We got a cover for their first post-TPL kiss in 2003. A cover for their April 2004 lovemaking. A cover for their first engagement. A cover for their reconciliation (I forget which one exactly) and of course a cover for their wedding. SOD still uses their 2004 engagement issue as their advertisement for subscriptions, which indicates just how popular that issue must have been.

Thank you for this post and the entire list, but this is the one that probably hit me the most. I feel like I've been grieving the lost of Sami for years now but kept hoping maybe when Lumi reunited we would finally get Sami back too. With Lucas leaving, all hopes of Sami returning are also gone.... but, it made me think of one other upside for us.... We got the real Sami Brady! The character Ali is portraying now will never compare to the real Sami Gene Brady that we knew and loved "flaws and all"... the Sami that will forever be exclusively tied to her one true love Lucas Horton.
