I know we want to refrain from talking Days but I found this rumorish/spoiler coming out very interesting. Why would he be back if not to discuss the ONLY thing that no one knows about now that the switch is out in the open. Maybe the possibility that Sydney isn't a rapemi baby but Nicole's? Lol....I find a bit of comfort in knowing he's coming back even if I'm no longer watching..... A part of me would prefer for Days to keep making one stupid move after another rather than doing something smart like making Sydney Nicole's bio child, however the bigger part of me can't help but still want Nicole and Sydney to be reunited. Even though I won't be watching, it would make me very happy if Nicole & Sydney are reunited. And, honestly, I'd like to indulge in a little schadenfreude from time to time, and Sydney being the Ejole baby instead of a rapemi one, would definitely provide for that .

They could have gotten together before Nicole came back to Salem. Ideally I would love it if Rapist had no children, since he is a terrible dad and a rotten human being, but I would settle for Sydney being Rapist's as long as she is also Nicole's.

Confirmed by SOD: As recently hinted in Soap Opera Digest, a presumed-dead character is heading back to Salem. We can now confirm it's John Callahan, who will reprise the role of Dr. Richard Baker on April 22. Seriously, though, how would they do that? Recast Lucas? Kill him off before he could even hold his son? Pretend that he didn't care and/or that the dramatic father-son reunion took place off-stage? No, I think it's highly unlikely at this point. Of course, if Days survives a couple more years, things could change, but....

I agree with you...I remember when the news broke about Carly and the mags reported that she wouldn't be in a direct story with Bo, and low and behold they have already slepted together and she has been in his story the entire time until now...I bet that he will reveal something involving Sydney or Nicole's baby or something....plus interact with Chad and his adoption or Mel and hers....

As much as I hate to say this instead of making Lucas a deadbeat Dad they should kill him off or recast. No recast could really ever be Lucas to me. Just like when they had recast Jack he just wasn't Jack to me. But so much of Lucas was being a Dad and fighting for Will that even having a recast Lucas just to be the guy Sami gaves the kids too to watch would be okay with me. Even though I don't watch Days myself I"m forced to watch once in awhile when my sister comes over or I'm over at her place when it's on. All I've seen of Days lately is there making on the chars. unlikeable and destories them.

I was thinking about this today. It really would've been so easy to kill him off in a way that served the story they're determined to write and still pleased the fans. (Well, as much as any exit could "please" us.) Just write it so Lucas discovers that it's EJ who's behind Sydney's kidnapping, but before he can tell anyone, EJ kills him. Bryan gets an actual goodbye, rather than vanishing into thin air. We get to see Lucas go out as a hero. Safe fans have no room for complaint; Lucas is out of the picture and the rapist is reaffirmed as a true villain, leaving their guy as the only real option for Sami. Rapemi fans may be annoyed, but they'll spin it like they do everything else and convince themselves EJ is still rootable. (Besides, they've wanted him to be dark, and many of them would probably enjoy seeing him get rid of his old rival.) TPTB have storyline fodder for Kate, Philip, Maggie, Will, Sami, even Chloe.... If for whatever reason TPTB didn't want to show Elvis actually committing a murder - since they seem to have deluded themselves into thinking there are bridges left to burn with him - they could just show him pointing a gun at Lucas, and then in an episode or two various family members get letters or emails from Lucas where he says he's leaving town for good. The audience is left hanging on whether he's dead or sitting in some DiMera dungeon, a la Roman's beach death in the '80s. Kate is torn between worrying and blaming Sami for driving him away, Sami is torn between being mad that he's "abandoned" the kids and thinking it doesn't ring true, etc etc. (Maybe when Sydney is found, EJ will even try to make it look like Lucas was the one behind it.) See? It could've been so easy to do.

Let's not sugar coat it, anyone who thinks that a rapist/victim pairing is romantic is whacked enough to consider murder to be foreplay. And I agree, either the scenarios you suggested would have been infinitely preferable to what they did.
