Lumi B.A. Posts: 1,793 Group: Managers Member #119 Joined: March 24, 2006	Yesterday I got a text message from my brother that said: "I'm getting married tomorrow?" Now, my brother is 43. Never been married. Broke up with his previous girlfriend after seven years because she wanted to get married and have kids and he wasn't ready. He's been with the current girlfriend for a few years, and I've never heard any suggestion that they were thinking of getting married. (Marriage is a lot less common in Sweden than in the US - we're a pretty secularized country, and a lot of people figure a piece of paper isn't important.) So, you know, I was a little surprised. I wasn't in a position to pick up the phone and call him, so I texted him back, something about as coherent as "You're doing what? Tomorrow?" This morning as I got up I found a reply: "I'm getting married? Today?" My brother is not the question mark type. He's undeniably an exclamation mark-er. So I called him, and he was rushing around trying to get ready to get married in a couple hours. He wanted to know if I had a ring that his father gave our mother many years ago, around the time my brother was born. Don't ask me why I would have it. We have different fathers. Anyway, I told him "No, I'm pretty sure I don't have anything like that. I have our grandmother's rings..." Before I can finish my sentence, he's talking again. "But you have our grandmother's ring, right? Can I borrow it?" Um. "I have both her rings, engagement and wedding. One of them is yours, you know. You asked me to hold on to it for you." "What?!?" "Mom inherited the rings, wanted us each to have one, and you said I should take care of both of them. Remember?" "OMG, you just saved my day! My year! My life! I'm so smart to have asked you to do that! Really? I can have it? Can I swing by and..." "You're clearly in a hurry. I'll bring it to you. When and where?" "You're an angel!" So, yeah. My brother got married today.
