Anyways, here’s another chapter, another possible twist ;). Unamed character and Rafey is in this chapter – but there’s no unnamed couple Please remember that, I do not own any of the characters, they belong to Days of Our Lives (who have destroyed them on their own), and I hope with this fanfic that I could redeem them... except for Sleez… he can leave anytime now! ~No Place Like Home~ ~Chapter Three~ “Sami, wait…,” Lucas said as he ran after Sami in the parking lot of the Brady Pub. “You hate me too, don’t you?,” Sami asked him, in midst of tears. “Sami, how could I ever hate you? You gave me two beautiful children which truly does show how much love we truly do share.” “What about Johnny? Would you ever love him as if he were yours? I can never forgive myself for giving into the demands of EJ Dimera.” “Sami, it wasn’t your fault, and either way, I love him if he were my own.” “I always felt there was a bigger connection with you and him, than him and EJ. It makes me wonder…” “…Wonder what?,” Lucas cut her off as he took her hand and guided her towards his car. “If all those tests were wrong, and you are actually his father.” “We can always find out, and even if he weren’t my own, I still love him as if he were,” Lucas began to tell her as he unlock his car doors to get the heating going. “You always know how to put a smile on my face, Lucas. And I thank you for that.” “No problem, and now I’m going to take you home.” “Lucas, you can’t….” “Why not? You are in no shape to drive home by yourself,” Lucas cut her off. “I, I…can’t leave my car here overnight, Rafe and I drove here together, and I have the keys.” Sami finally stammered out. “Um, Sami, your car is not here any more.” Lucas replied, noticing that Sami’s car was no longer there in the parking lot. Earlier that night - Dimera Mansion “This can’t be happening, how could this have happened? I thought you got Sydney’s DNA and confirmed she was mine, Rafe.” Sami said choking back tears as she saw Henderson bring in the last of Sydney’s belongings into the Dimera mansion. “I..I did, and it confirmed that you were her mother. I don’t know what happened,” Rafe stammered out, even with him trying to altar the truth. Sadly, he knew that the truth about Sydney’s parentage would eventually come out. “I still can’t believe it, it can’t be possible.” “You want to go home, and wait there maybe?” “No, I don’t want to – I..I..want to say here ‘cause…’cause Sydney lives here.” “Okay, but remember there are Sydney mementos all over the place.” “We should go then, I want to go see my grandma and the twins.” “To the pub it is, then.” “Thank you for bringing the last of Sydney’s things, Samantha. You can bring her half-brother, Johnny over time for a play date,” EJ spoke up as he picked up Sydney’s favorite stuffed animal and held it closely. “Goodbye EJ, and we’ll talk soon about that, ok?,” was all that Sami could stammer out as she grabbed her purse and walked out of the mansion with Rafe. “Yes, soon,” EJ replied who was clearly devastated by the turn of events. Later at the Brady Pub… “So much for being with my family tonight,” Sami murmured hopelessly as she walked towards where Rafe was sitting and having his coffee. “Sleeping?.” Rafe asked. “Yeah, the twins are asleep and so is my grandma.” she stopped for a moment to collect herself, and continued, “And um, Will is out somewhere with, um, er Mia.” “You want to go home?.” Rafe asked as he jotted down some notes. “No, I.. I just want to sit here. Too many memories of Sydney at home,” Sami replied as she sat down and put her purse on her lap. “Can I get you some – something, coffee or tea?,” Rafe asked as closed his notepad. Sighing softly, Sami didn’t answer, shook her head no and just starred blankly at him. Rafe starred back at her, and finally went, “I should go make those calls, now,” and grabbed his notepad, pen and got up and proceed to walk towards the bar. As he walked away, Sami pulled out her phone and called Lucas. She wasn’t supposed to have this number, but it was an emergency. Before she could dial his number, the door to the Brady pub opened and EJ appeared. “EJ, what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at home with your wife and daughter?,” Sami blurted out. “Yes, but, I noticed how much you were eyeing the stuffed giraffe of Sydney’s. She would have wanted you to have it,” EJ explained. “But, she’ll notice it’s missing.” “Relax Samantha, she has multiple stuffed giraffes. She won’t notice it missing.” “Um, thank you,” Sami stammered out, and then continued, “You should really go, it’s really uncomfortable having you here.” “First, I need to speak to Rafael.” “Go ahead, nobody’s stopping you.” With that, EJ left Sami and went to talk to Rafe. Before she knew it, it was a full blown argument between the two. She didn’t want to be there, she needed to talk to Lucas now, and pulled out her cell phone again and called him, but broke down in tears as she got his voicemail. She had no choice but to leave a message saying, Hi Lucas, it’s me Sami, I … I need to talk to you…It’s its’ about Sydney…”, began Sami in mid-hysterics as he could hear EJ and Rafe arguing in the background, and the message continued, “Can you please come to the Brady Pub? I need you. I…I…really need you.” She closed her cell phone as she waited and prayed that Lucas got her message. She heard the Brady Pub door open, and close. She didn’t notice that EJ had left and Rafe get on the phone again. The pub was an eerily quiet, and that she missed verbal spars by both Rafe and EJ. Back to the present… “Damn it, he drove us here. He has the keys. Why would he leave without even telling me?!,” Sami replied angerily realizing that Lucas was right. “I don’t know, and I don’t want you to be alone tonight. I’m taking you to my place. Right now, you need to be somewhere where you feel safe. And I promise you Sami, we’ll find out why Rafe left you like this. If we were still together, I would never do such a thing.” Lucas told her. “I know you wouldn’t, thank you Lucas. Thank you for everything. I don’t know what I would do without you,” Sami replied and sat down in Lucas’s car. “You’ll never be without me,” Lucas replied as he sat down in the driver’s seat as he started the car, “I love you no matter what,” as he reached over and tenderly kissed her cheek. … ~To Be Continued~
