Author's Note: I've had such a awful time writing this chapter I've rewrote it so many times. I'm just posting what I have finally gotten together hoping I can just skip ahead alittle with Chapter 11 which I can't give a date on when will be post I haven't gotten anything wrote of it yet and I have family coming on a visit this week so when I get free time I will write more. Thank you for the replies they make me happy to know people like my story. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chapter 10 As Lucas pulled the car to a stop in the same spot as he had the day before when he had brought Allie up to the lake. The ride up was silent as Sami curled up much in the same way their daughter had the day before sleeping. Sami had at first meant to just lay like that until they left Salem but Lucas knew she was tired and wasn’t surprised to find she had fallen asleep before they made it out of the city limits. Will wasn’t in a talking mood it seemed he had just looked out the window the whole way up. The only time he had said anything was to asks his Dad to stop at a gas station and get some type of food for lunch. That was fun going in a gas station and picking out prepackaged sandwiches that didn’t look like they’d been there since last week. Lucas had just grabbed four and gotten a couple bags of chips and a two giant sodas with a few candy bars made small talk with the checkout guy about how he was spending the day with his son then left all the while hoping the checkout guy didn’t look to closely at his car and notice anyone is the back. The stop took less then five minutes and made Lucas’ nerves worry twice as long. At this moment Lucas felt all of his almost 36 years. If one little thing went wrong he knew that it was very likely that they would lose Johnny. That was something Lucas couldn’t let happen again. Knowing that setting here wasn’t going to get anything done Lucas asks Will. “Do you want to wake you’re Mother are should I?” “You can do it Dad, I’ll get the blanket I know you keep in the trunk and setup a mini picnic for us” Will replied as he grabbed the bag of sandwiches and other lunch items. Lucas nodded in agreement and opened his car door walking the few steps it took to open the back door he couldn’t help but smile at Sami’s sleeping face she looked so much like the young girl he used to bring here so many years ago. He couldn’t believe for a moment that it had been close to 20 years ago since the first time he had brought that young trouble maker named Sami Brady here. She had just been a friend then his only real friend and for along time after he had felt that way. It wasn’t until Alan had raped her did Lucas finally notice he felt something more powerful then friendship for Sami but at the time he had thought it was love like you had for a sibling. Lucas had to shake his head at having been so naive at one time for ever even thinking that. The first time they made love and that what that night at Titian was had shown Lucas he didn’t love Sami in a sibling way after all. But he had gotten scared by his feelings for her that run so deep that it was easier to pretend he still loved Carrie then face the fact he never had. Sami was so easy to fall in love with and so hard to love at the same time. She made a habit of pushing the people that truly loved her away and running after the ones that didn’t. At least she did back then not anymore. Lucas couldn’t help but smile as he touched a strand of her long blonde locks and hoped Sami decided to keep her hair long like this he had missed it over the years to him it brought back all the good times they used to have as teenagers. “Wakey wakey sleeping beauty” Sami heard as she felt someone pulling gently on her hair. “I know you’re up open those blue eyes of yours” Lucas scolded “Are I just might let Will eat your sandwich” At the mention of food Sami opened her eyes and smiled she hadn’t had breakfast this morning and was hunger. She had wanted to asks Lucas to stop for some type of food but must have fallen asleep before she could. Pulling her self into a setting position Sami smiled up at her ex-husband looking around the car she noticed Will wasn’t in it and from the windshield she could see they had made it to the lake already. “This place sure brings back memories doesn’t it?” Lucas asked as he offer Sami his arm helping her get out of the car. “Yea it does it’s a shame we let our mistakes take so many years awhile from us” Sami said as she pictured a young Lucas at this very lake he had been so full of his self then and charming in a young stupid I know everything kind of way. “I can’t believe you guys never brought me here when I was younger” with that Will joined their conversation. “We could have had so much fun here” “Well we would have had to have gotten along and shared you then and that was something that your Father and Me well mostly me hadn’t learned to do well when you were little” Sami stated truthfully. Having had the spare time to think about those types of things Sami did know it would have been better for Will if she had accepted Lucas’ offer of joint custody when he was little. “It’s okay Mom” was Will’s fast reply. “No it’s not I should have put you’re needs first and not let my all are nothing custody battle cost you so much time away from you’re Dad and Me” “Sami it wasn’t just you fighting that battle, I should have tried harder to get you to realize that I wasn’t trying to take Will from you. And not use that to punish you for not telling me the truth about Will sooner” Lucas said looking at Sami who he truly wanted to be able to call Wife once again. “I should have told you at least this time I got it right with Johnny. I only wish I would have been able to tell you sooner” Sami said as she seat down on the blanket Will had laid out next to the bag of what Sami guessed was their lunch. “See it’s true you can learn from you’re past huh Mom?” Will teased as he took a spot next to her on the blanket and tried to swap the lunch bag before she could get it. Lightly slapping his hands away Sami grabbed the brown bag and looked inside. “Yea sorry about that” Lucas said as he seen the look on Sami’s face when she pulled out a cold ham and cheese sub “it was the best I could do at the gas station” “It’s fine I’m so hunger at the moment I could eat a horse” Sami replied as she emptied out the contends of the brown bag and laid them before her on the blanket eyeing the bag of corn chips Sami grabbed them and the ham sub and torn into them not waiting to see what the two Horton men would pick. Will grabbed his lunch next not letting his Dad get the chance to get the turkey sub and leaving Lucas either a tuna salad sandwich or another ham and cheese this one on plain white bread. Lucas though had grabbed his bag of chips before Will could get the wave ways. Leaving Will the BBQ ones instead. Decided no to take the risk of food poisoning Lucas took the ham and cheese that was left. “Not to sound ungrateful for the food but did you remember to buy anything to drink?” Sami asked having already finished her food and eyeing the candy bars that Lucas was nice enough to buy. “Yes dear I did remember” Getting up off the blanket Lucas headed to the car and came back with the two giant soda bottles. “I thought we could share Sami I even got the kind you liked.” Will took soda bottle his Dad offered him knowing just like his parents why their were only two brought. For a few minutes they had escaped thoughts of the DiMeras and fears of getting caught. And just been the Horton family enjoying a picnic. Will just watched for a few minutes as his Parents share their soda and enjoyed the smiles they shared and realized it hadn’t been destroyed the DiMeras hadn’t won. His Parents still loved each other and this was going to work out. They we going to get out of Salem and be the family they also should have been. “As much as I love seeing you guys made lovely dopey faces at each other we need to start planning on getting Johnny out of Salem” Will stated in that tone he inherited from his father at least Sami thought so, Lucas on the other hand thought he had gotten it from her. “Will sweetie I love you but please don’t say dopey ever again it just doesn’t work well in any sentence” Sami said as she blush red at having been caught by her son flirting with his father. “I think we should take a page out of Nicole’s book and kidnap Johnny” Will said ignoring his Mother’s early teasing comment. “Will that’s kind of a given” Lucas said not wanting to make his son seem unimportant but knowing that the only option they had at the moment to get Johnny out of Salem so would be to kidnap him. “Dad I mean Mom should do it” Trying to explain as this ideas came to him “ the first people their going to look at when Johnny goes missing is us. But if Mom takes him 1. He’ll go to her thinking she’s the fake 2. “ Will said making his points holding a finger up as he spoke them “if Mom does it we can get a air tight alibi.” “We can’t do that Will it’s too big a risk to you’re Mother what if she gets caught with Johnny?” Lucas asked knowing Will wanted to help but his plan was to risky. “No Lucas it could work no one would say anything to me if they see us together I’m his Mother. ” Sami agreed with Will this was a risk she had to take to freed her baby boy. “Sami you don’t look exactly like you’re imposter at the moment she’s heavy then you and has shorter hair” Lucas said trying to fight the idea out of her head but knowing once Sami Brady had her head set on something you couldn’t stop her from it. “I know that I can cut my hair wear some baggie clothes I’m not wanting people to see me Lucas just if they did they won’t stop me” Sami said as she pictured herself with Johnny walking down the street trying to get them out of Salem without getting caught. “It’s not going to be that easy Sami okay say you do get Johnny where are you going to take him?” Lucas asked feeling the start of a headache coming on. These we’re things they hadn’t really had time to think of answers to yet. Sami and Will both had no answer to that yet looking at each other they didn’t say a word. This wasn’t going to be easy there were so many things that needed to be done but it was clear that as it was right now they needed someone else to help them the problem was who could they trust with this information? “We need help” Sami admit out loud sadly knowing they really had no one to turn too that would help them. Lucas felt forlorn as well at one time he would have went straight to Victor without thought but to much water had run under that burned out bridge for Lucas to trust his family’s safety to his former step-father. He could go to Philip but involving Philip meant Victor so he couldn’t do that. Austin wasn’t in Salem and while he would help Lucas was sure their wasn’t much he could do anyway. He was just about to asks Sami if she thought Eric might help them when Will jumped up and smiled and yelled out “I know who can help us” “But were going to have to leave the lake I need my cell phone to work and it doesn’t seem to here” holding up the phone in his hands Will could see no signal bars showing. “Will if you’re thinking about you’re Uncle Austin I really don’t see how he cou” Lucas didn’t get to finish his sentence because Will had just started laughing at that. “No Dad not Uncle Austin, I’m thinking more on the lines of another Uncle” “I don’t think Eric can help either. I mean if he did care about me at all why hasn’t he felt my fear in the last two years and came looking for me?” Sami stated more then asked feeling decidedly hurt at her twin. “No Mom not that Uncle either” “Well Mike would help us but I think he returned to Israel already” Lucas answered mad at himself a little for not thinking to check and see if Mike hadn’t left yet so he could have given Sami a once over just to much sure she was okay after having been held so long. “Not that Uncle either, I’m talking about Uncle Rex you do remember you’re shared brother right?” Will asked as if he was talking to two five year olds. “I’m sure you’re Dad remembers are shared sister Cassie better then Rex” Sami barely got out before she was laughing. “Sami it isn’t that funny” Lucas said then turned to Will “How can Rex help he isn’t even in Salem” “Dad he lives in Chicago that’s only a few hours drive away. He’s a genius that can hack into any computer and make fake id’s and passports which I sure we’re going to need in the near future” “You’re right little man Rex sounds just like the help we need. But do you think he will help us neither you’re Father or I were very close with him before he and Cassie left Salem?” Sami asked cursing her behavior towards her younger half-brother. “I know he will he hates the DiMeras for how they treated Aunt Cassie and him and we’re kind of close. We talk every week on the phone and he sends me new video games he’s making all the time.” Will said as relief flood him all they needed to do now was get his Uncle Rex on the phone and tell him what was going on he would then take over the planning of rescuing Johnny. “Are you sure we can trust him Will?” Lucas asked feeling awful for having to asks his son that question when he himself should know the answer. Why hadn’t he stayed in contact with his younger brother? He knew for a fact his Mother hadn’t Rex had left Salem and made sure to not have contact with Kate at all something about not needing a demanding woman who never raised him telling him what to do. Right there in Lucas’ eyes prove what a genius Rex was for getting Kate Robert well DiMera now out of his life. “I trust him” Will said. “Okay then let’s pack up and get you back in cell service” Lucas said praying silently that Will was right and they could trust Rex. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rex Brady was waving bye to his brother and nephew as he watched Lucas’ car pull out of the rented vacation home he rented every year. To say he had been surprised when Will had called and sounded so upset that Rex had dropped everything and asked Will to meet him here. Will hadn’t needed to tell him anything other then one word DiMera and that was enough for Rex to know what ever had Will that upset had to be bad and he needed help. He had just dropped everything didn’t even tell Cassie where he was going just that he would call her tomorrow. Turning to look at the door to the house Rex shook his head glad that he had picked a house to rent that wasn’t close to any other houses so no one would notice Sami staying here for awhile. Rex didn’t like the idea of Sami staying here alone but until the time came for her to get Johnny they really didn’t have a choice. Rex would like to stay with her but knew he couldn’t because he had to get back to Chicago first thing in the morning and get to work on getting fake passports for Sami and Johnny and Rex was thinking for the Lucas, Will and Allie as well. That was something that would take him a little time to get together. Walking back into the house Rex looked around the living room but didn’t notice Sami anywhere until he came upon the couch and seen her sound asleep on it. A smile appeared on his face as Rex shook his head the way Sami was curled up remind him of how Cassie would sleep. Looking around he found a notebook and pen and wrote out a note to let Sami know he was going to the store and would pick her up some food for the next few days until he could return and set their play in motion. The plan was simply wait until Lucas, Will, and Allie left the country then Sami with his help would rescue Johnny and with their fake passports would leave the country too but not met up with the others until a few weeks later. Then the Horton family would all meet up and disappear together as a family. Rex knew more then likely after he helped his Sister and Brother he might not ever see them again but that was something he accepted as the price he would have to pay for insurance that his nephews and niece along with their parents were kept safe from the DiMeras. Rex locked the door as he left the house and knew that Sami wouldn’t like being left there alone after all she had been locked away in a small room for over two years even a nice three bedroom rented house would still seem like a prison to her having to say in it all the time. Rex decided as he was pulling out of the drive way to buy a prepaid cell phone so he could keep in touch with Sami so she wouldn’t feel so alone and since the house was so far back if Sami wanted to set in the backyard she could do that. She just couldn’t go anyway of course not having a car kind of made that impossible anyway. Not having a car might be a good thing for Sami, Rex thought he had heard some of her driving tales and he didn’t feel like having to go car shopping at the moment. Laughing to himself Rex got on the main road and looked in the rear view mirror happy that you couldn’t see the house from here and hoping Sami slept through his food run. TBC…

I loved the picnic scene at the park with Will,Sami,Lucas at the park and your descripiton of Lucas and his love for Sami and how he truly feels is spot on I love how hes remembering back to all the wonderful times he and Sami had together. I love Will saying he loves how his parents are making lovey dovey faces at at each other ahh our Lumi so in love and so cute together this is a really cute chapter. Sami is going to pretend to be imposter Sami I like this twist. Sami is staying with Rex for now untill she goes through with the plan to get the twins out of that house good for her and Rex is such an awesome half brother letting Sami stay at his place.
