Rating: PG-13 Author: Luvinglumi You can find previous chapters on this board, if you haven't done so already please read those chapters first, the story is about to go into it's rollercoaster phase...enjoy! Total Darkness-Chapter 6 A faint knock came at Lucas' door and he was already making his way upstairs when he heard it and he immediately tried to get to the door but ran into a wall. "Damn" he chuckled and put his hand on his head. "This is hard, uhm Will" Lucas called out. "Yeah dad?" "Someone's knocking at the front door and I think it's best you try to open the door before I give myself a concusion." "Okay, no problem dad." Lucas raised his voice a bit and yelled out toward the front door, "Hold on, we'll be right there." Will ran down the stairs and rushed to the door, flinging it open in a hurry. "Oh, hi!" Will said and took two steps back. "Who is it Will? Who's at the door? Did you look through the peep hole? You know you really need to get into the habit of looking through the peep hole. You can't ever be too careful in this town of ours." "Don't worry dad, it's just..." "It's me Lucas, it's Emily." "Emily?" Lucas explained. "Oh my God. I thought you wouldn't be coming until the weekend? What happened?" Lucas proceeded to invite her in and then she closed the door behind her as Will quickly ran upstairs to his room once again. "Well, I quit my job Lucas." "What?" "Well, it's a long story, but I have another offer for a job in a hospital here." "University Hospital?" "Yes, I was offered the job and I took it and resigned my position at the center this morning." "Why would you make such an abrupt decision? Is the pay that good?" "Actually, it's not, I actually got a cut in salary, but I think it's worth it. You are worth it." "I'm worth it? What are you talking about Emily?" "Remember that I told you that I couldn't get involved with any of my patients while at the center? Well they told me I would never be able to get involved period, not even when they are out of the center. Some agreement I signed when I first got hired that I didn't even remember signing, but sure enough my signature was on that paper. So..." "Yes, I remember, but what does that have to do with me?" Emily started getting nervous at the thought that maybe her decision to quit her job really wasn't going to work out in a relationship with Lucas. She stammered, "Lu-c-ccaas, I'm sorry, I thought that you.... I--I-mm just so stupid." "Women, why do you guys always have to talk in riddles." "Okay, I'll let you know, I thought you already figured it out, but I guess you are more dense than I thought you were." Emily said with a chuckle. "Figure what out, that you want me? I figured that out the minute you couldn't stop coughing when you first saw me, now I wonder why it's taken you so long to actually admit it." Emily was taken aback by Lucas' honesty and his ability to read people without having the ability to see them. "Well, for one there is Sami." Emily stated and then proceeded to sit on the coach. "Then there is my past." "Your past? Everyone has a past, including myself. I've slept with more women than I can even count, but I've only been in love with one. What's your past." "I was engaged to be married to a man I loved more than my own life." "So you attempted to killed yourself? Loved him more than your own life? What are you saying?" "Close, but not really. You are on the right track though." "What went wrong, what was his name?" "His name was Rafael and he was great. He loved me, protected me, made me feel wanted and I really can tell you I haven't felt attracted to any other man until...." "Until?" "Until I met you." "Emily, you really need to start telling me about this Rafael guy? Who is he? What does he do for a living, or is he dead? Why aren't you with him if you loved him so much? You know if you love someone the way you describe you loved this man, nothing should hold you back?" "Well, you loved Sami and why aren't you together?" "I don't know because I can't remember, I don't even know if I loved her?" "You have kids with her, you loved her Lucas, it's obvious, you were remembering her even before you knew she existed. She is in your soul and you won't be able to get her out that easily." "I have to figure out our past first, why I have such great memories and such awful ones. Why it officially ended between us and all that. There are many unanswered questions because I can't remember, and to top it all off I can't see either, so that isn't helping me, but what does that have to do with your past? Tell me more." "I'll tell you that I did something to get away from my past because I didn't want Rafael to lose his job, or his life. Something I will likely regret for the rest of my life. I lost him, I lost my identity, I basically lost everything I was, I started anew." While saying this Emily had the overwhelming urge to take Lucas in her arms and kiss him. "Are you saying you faked your death? Oh God!" Emily simply stared at Lucas and bit her lower lip and didn't say much of anything else, she lunged forward and grabbed Lucas face and cupped it in her hands. She slowly pulled his face in toward hers and proceeded to passionately kiss him. Lucas was taken back and at first resisted but he was a hot blooded American male and having a woman still attracted to him with his disability was very captivating to him so he responded to her fully. Emily and Lucas heard someone trying to stick a key through the front door cylinder. The door flung open and Sami stood there in awe! She couldn't say much but what she saw surprised her. It was Emily and Lucas fully embraced in a kiss. She stood there with her hand covering her open mouth and tears were starting to develop in her eyes. She couldn't believe it, Lucas was moving on and she didn't know what to do. (to be continued)

Lumi Masters Posts: 4,315 Group: All Access Lumi Member #133 Joined: March 24, 2006	What an awesome chapter and I know Sami is not going to be too happy with Emily trying to come on to her man already and she may send Emily out that door so fast her head will spin. I still think Sami is not over Lucas while trying to be with rebound Rafe who is a rebound from Lucas and she will let it be known to Lucas that she loves him and can't live without him and will let Emily know that Lucas is her man and let her know that she can take care of Lucas and that Emily's services are not needed. Great stuff having Emily bring up the love of her life Rafe shes not over Rafe and still loves him and Emily needs to realize this. Great chapter and I can't wait to see what happens next.
