Hope comes into the living room and announces it's time. Maggie, Melissa, Laura and Marie all leave with her. Lucas finds himself alone, He picks up a picture of Tom and takes it as he starts to leave the room. At the door, he turns and takes one last look at the empty room.

Sami says she wants and loves Rafe, but EJ is the father of two of her children. Carrie asks, "Lucas is also the father of two of your children. Are you living with him?"

Caroline interrupts with Allie, "It's time to go say goodbye to precious Alice."

Allie chimes in, "My name is Alice."

"You were named after a great lady," says Caroline.

Shane says he's seen Sami in action. Rafe rants about her and EJ, "The SOB is a DiMera just as slimy and crooked as his old man."

Shane has some advice, "Watch your back and get Sami away from the DiMeras — that includes EJ.

Carrie greets Lucas. Julie and Doug join them and say hi to Allie. They all talk about remembering Alice.
Sami rushes into the rumpus room. Kate is with Johnny who has a fever. Sami thanks Kate for taking care of him. Kate says she knows they have their issues, but she loves children, "I guess you must be doing something right

Lucas says he wouldn't be alive today without her. He talks about finding out he was a Horton, "She was like royalty and to find out I was part of her very own flesh and blood was intimidating, exciting and rewarding."

Sami joins Kate back in the rumpus room. She says Johnny took his meds and conked out

She tells Kate the funeral was beautiful. Kate asks if Sami saw Lucas. She yes she did, but didn't get to talk to him

Flashbacks cascade onto the screen. Alice and Tom hugging. Alice and Melissa... Julie... Alice and Tom dancing... Julie again... Christmas bulbs... Alice in her wedding dress... Lucas... a family hug... Jennifer... Alice turns to a picture of Tom, "Goodbye my darling, till we meet again."

Hope cries, "Goodbye, Gran."

Lucas puts the picture of Tom with her picture. We pan through the crowd and then back to the picture.

Sami opes the door at the DiMera mansion to find Rafe. Heavy breathing ensues.

So is this it?

Thanks for posting.
Do you remember what she told him? She took her lover’s hand, and she said, “just because something is intangible doesn't mean that it's not real.” Lucas, no matter what happens, no matter what we’ve been through, no matter what I say, you will always be in my heart. -- Sami Brady, November 2007

Of course they had to interrupt that. Can't possibly have Sami answer that question. :@

One more Lucasode after this.

I'd love to see the look on Sami's face when Carrie says that.

Who would have thought that Carrie of all people would make herself useful by remembering Lucas...

Lol...heck at least she's saying what I've been saying for months...."if it's all about living with the father of both of her kids then she should tell Lucas to come back from Hong Kong and live with her too..." This show is just so bad it's not even worth talking about anymore....one more day and we're over and out. Some people on the boards are not really liking how the memorial epis have turned out....they don't feel they did Alice justice.

When Johnny turns out to be Lucas' (and he will) and Sydney turns out to be Nicole's (and she will) then Rapist will be the father to none of her kids.

Carrie & Sami are continuing their talk in the Pub, Carrie noting to Sami that she loves Rafe, but is living with EJ??? Sami claims he is father to 2 of her children, Carrie retorts that Lucas is also father to two of her children and she doesn’t seem to be living with him. Now Sami brings up the pipes breaking and water damage, Carrie asks if it has been repaired, yes it has. When? A while ago is all Sami will say. Carrie is on her case, noting Rafe left so she then moves in with EJ? She goes on….telling her she can’t be in love with Rafe, living with another man. She is going to have to make up her mind.

Over a the Horton house, Hope comes in, telling the group that it is time, the cars are there. Hope, Marie, Maggie, Melissa, Bill, Laura, Jennifer all start to leave, but Lucas stops, looks around the living room. (this is truly poignant). He stands there, then walks over to a side table where a picture of Tom sits, takes it. He walks towards the door, stops, and once more, looks around the living room, then leaves.

The 2nd part of the show is devoted to the graveside services. Everyone is gathered there, small conversations on the nice job Rev. McMartin did at the church service, how so many people shared their memories of Alice, and how many have already left for the reception. Lucas is with Allie, seems Sami was called home because Johnny was sick. Everyone is sort of milling around, Jen finally coming up to Hope, saying she thinks they should get started. Hope agrees and Jennifer says she will get things going.

Meanwhile, we see Sami rushing into DiMansion, Kate has Johnny laying across her lap, he is running a small temp, she would not give him anything without Sami’s permission. Just did cold compresses. Sami thanks her as she holds Johnny. Later, she comes back down, having changed clothes, Johnny is sleeping, took his cold med, is now cool to the touch. She thanks kate again, who comments that all 4 of Sami’s children (naming them) are good kids, Sami must have done something right. The doorbell rings, Sami goes to answer, and there stands Rafe, rendering Sami absolutely speechless.

And back to the cemetery. The casket is heaped with beautiful yellow flowers, and there is a huge picture on the end of a younger Alice. Caroline begins talking of the good friend Alice was to her, and how when she was at her wit’s end, not knowing what to do, Alice was able to…and Doug picks up. As each person talks, the last couple of words they say are the ones used by the next person to begin their talk. I truly cannot relate what each one says,Julie, Nathan, Melissa, Lucas…oh, yes, he talks of how he discovered he was a Horton late in his teens, and how Alice welcomed him into the family, made him feel an important part of the family. In the background, we see Shane appear, standing at the back, & a shot of Mike in the hospital, thinking of his Gran. . Jennifer, Bo say a few words. ..everyone is dabbing at their eyes, a tearful Hope looks at the picture of Alice, saying good-bye Gran, we will never forget you. She mentions how Alice never wanted to say good-bye, always saying “Til we meet again”. Lucas has taken the picture of Tom and tucked it into the corner of the big picture of Alice.

Everyone has a yellow rose, and one by one, they all lay their rose atop the casket, Lucas holding Allie who puts it down, and Bo with Ciara. As they mill about Shane comes up to Kimberly, saying “Hey”, and she blows up, telling him he just doesn’t come sneaking up with a “hey”. She storms off. Shane expresses condolences to Bo, leaves. Hope & Bo look awkwardly at each other.

And now we are treated to a montage of scenes from Alice’s life, through the years, from a younger Tom & Alice together, Alice hugging Jen, Julie, Lucas, dancing with Tom, their second wedding, with family around, she has her cane in one scene, and you can see her becoming more and more frail, and the final scene, she is sitting in her chair, looking at Tom’s picture, touching it as she says…Good night, Tom, til we meet again. The show ends, there is a message saying “In loving memory of Frances Reid” with her picture there. And that is the fade out. No previews.

Bryan was right when he told us it was a fitting tribute to Alice.

Not sure why the needed a sick Johnny to pull Sami away, but whatever. The rest is awesome. And the picture of Tom-perfect.

Not sure why the needed a sick Johnny to pull Sami away
Because this twit calling herself Sammi Jean will always subjugate her Horton children to the perceived "needs" of her DiMera children?

(If Johnny were very sick and needed his mommy, that would be one thing... but he was apparently comfortable with Kate and went to sleep as soon as he had the medicine Sami could have told Kate to give him over the phone. I mean, Kate's a piece of work in many ways, but she's an experienced enough mom/grandma to be able to judge whether to give cold medicine.

Meanwhile she doesn't bother to support Allie and Will during the loss of yet another of their relatives.)

This is just a microcosm of what Sammi Jean always does... Johnny and Sydney "need" the rapist, so she puts Allie in a sex offender's home and subjects Will to a bunch of sociopaths until he stops fighting and decides maybe he'd like to be a sociopath himself.
Do you remember what she told him? She took her lover’s hand, and she said, “just because something is intangible doesn't mean that it's not real.” Lucas, no matter what happens, no matter what we’ve been through, no matter what I say, you will always be in my heart. -- Sami Brady, November 2007

Why is Sami completely avoiding the Lucas issue?? I never thought I would say this but THANK YOU Carrie for bringing up Lucas and pointing out that he is indeed the father of 2 of her children (most likely ALL) and that he deserves respect! It's not all about the rapist Sami. UGH!

If Ali couldn't be there, they should have cut her in later like they did at Shawn's wake. Or had Sami "there" but never in front of the camera.

It was a big deal.

Or if she couldn't be there, make is a good enough reason for her to miss it. A cold?

As to why they don't address Lucas and Sami, because you can't have the chemistry exploding all over the place when the leading man in the couple isn't on the show. Scenes with Lucas just shows how wrong she is with Rafe. Not going to get into the rapist because that's just wrong no matter what. I'd rather Sami date Stefano or Victor than her rapist.

:X Leave it to Days to keep her away from Lucas as much as they could in order to build up to Safe. (bh) Never mind that Alice was important to Sami as well.

I agree that Kate could have taken care of Johnny, or what about his so-called father? Either one could have handled a sick child while Sami was at the graveside.

The picture of Tom was perfect though and they chose the perfect character to make sure that it got there.

Rafe & the Rapist are unnecessary interlopers who have no business being in Sami's life, let alone on this show. And I totally agree that the farther apart they kept Lumi, the less chance for viewers to witness the most natural and exciting chemistry between 2 actors on a soap. Go ahead TIIC, keep trying to shove the mindnumbingly boring Safe & the vile Rapemi down our throats instead. Who cares about what the fans really want? Idiots.

Is Johnny being sick going to lead to more and maybe just maybe Lucas will be brought back after all and this qestion won't be avoided any longer when Sami is with Rafe and that the love she feels for Lucas is still there and shes living in denial about it but won't any longer when Lucas is back.

Lots of clues there that maybe just maybe TPTB are opening the door for Lucas return in a huge way and this time its for good when its revealed that Lucas is Johnny's father and not the rapist something is brewing there thats for sure.

Will Johnny being sick become a regular occurance and Johnny might wind up needing a blood transfusion or something and the rapist or Stefano won't wind up being a match but Lucas does will this be the way it comes out that Lucas is Johnny's father and that Lucas will be called to the hospital to help Johnny and he finds out Johnny is his son. If Johnny does turn out to be Lucas son there is noway that Lucas will want his kids staying at the Dimera mansion any longer and he will wind up getting them out of there and have Johnny's last name be changed to Horton instead there is noway he would leave Johnny with that last name. So many anvils to a possible Lucas return for good this time and the possibility of Lumi reuniting for good this time as well.

Lots of foreshadowing to a possible Lucas return for good this time in this episode. The Alice memorial with everyone is going to make me cry buckets of tears for sure This episode looks and sounds really good and I can't wait to talk about it tommorow live with everyone on the board. I love all the family interaction between everyone in this episode.

This is the SECOND Horton funeral that Sami can't be at....remember Mickey? When she didn't even bother giving her condolences to Lucas/Maggie because she was busy saying how she had changed as a result of Grace's death? Either that or at the time she was busy boinking Rafe...can't remember....but I think it's the latter....anyway...I simply can't understand why Sami scenes couldn't be cut into that funeral...doesn't make sense to me...it's SOoooooooooooooo obvious they want to keep any interaction between Lumi so that no one remembers what they had on screen and the audience doesn't see how badly days has screwed up.

I think the graveyard scenes are going to be good and I agree with Bry about the moment with the picture....very touching....

I kind of liked Rafe that day. Rafe (unlike Sammi Jean) at least managed to find Will and offer to go with him when he went to support Alice. Yup, it was Will's job to sit with his fragile great-grandmother after she lost her son, a loss from which she never recovered... and Sammi had better things to do.

Very sad day indeed when I actually like Carrie better than Sami.

Having Lucas place Tom's picture with Alice's is a beautiful touch, the kind of small but high impact detail that I would not have expected from TPTB. I very much appreciate that someone thought to include that scene.

Hmm...Funny you say that...because I found this in an old issue of SOD - I think I showed this to Tink.

From the February 5, 2008 issue of SOD, the Days recap page.

Quote:

Hiding Out: Sami balks when What's His Face suggest they go into hiding to protect Johnny from Stefano. Sami and What's His Face hear a noise in the hallway, and go to investigate, and find a baby rattle - they deduce it's a message from the Phoenix. Sami relents, and agrees to go into hiding. What's His Face calls Abe who finds a safe house for them. In prison, Lucas rifles through Stefano's things and finds a cell phone. He calls Sami and is livid to learn that she's going into hiding with What's His Face and the twins. Later, Stefano offers to spring Lucas from jail if he agrees to get Johnny away from Sami and What's His Face. Lucas turns him down.

Possible foreshadowing?
