Kazz, thank you. You said everything I wanted to say as well. The writers have given me no reason whatsoever to care about Rafe. Just being a nice guy is not enough, there are alot of nice guys out there but that doesn't mean I have to care about all of them. Brandon was a nice guy too but I still couldn't wait until he was out of Sami's life so that Lumi could grow closer. I cared about Lucas, I will always care about Lucas and that is hugely thanks to Bryan Dattilo's exceptional acting skills and the fact that he dedicated so much time and effort in bringing Lucas's character to life and making him seem so real in every way. He made me care about Lucas. GG's portrayal of Rafe on the other hand makes me not care at all whether he comes or goes or is happy or sad. I just feel more and more disinterested and yes, bored. I don't loathe him like I do the rapist, but I just do not in any way, shape or form care at all. And the sad part is I find myself not caring about Sami as a result of her being saddled with him. He makes her boring and I find it unbelievable that after finding love with a wonderfully complicated man like Lucas Roberts Horton, that this former spitfire named Sami Brady would ever be happy with a dud like Rafe. He's like Austin & Brandon rolled into one, and to me that spells BORING!

It doesn't matter how decent of a guy Rafe is (and personally I take issue with some of his actions toward Nicole, Mia, Calliope, Anna, the nurse from Dr. Baker's office), it still doesn't make him right for Sami. I wouldn't feel any different about Rafe had he been in the same exact storyline with a different female character. It was a real disservice to Rafe (not to mention Sami) for him to be pushed into any pairing before he was established as a character in his own right.

Obviously Safe is preferable to rapemi but that is faint praise indeed. Sami would be better off with Franco, Tony, heck, even Andre than EJ so big whoop that Safe is better than rapemi, that is hardly enough to sustain the pairing longterm. However for right now, bring on Safe ... and kill the rapist.

Since no one else will say it, Galen is a bad actor. He isn't a ridiculouos overactor like James but he isn't up to the capacity that Days seems to want for Rafe. He has no emotional range and his delivery is as others have stated monotone and half the time it sounds like he is reading from cue cards. There is no natural flow in his interactions with anyone, everything feels like an actor acting out a scene rather than as if we are watching a brother interact with his sister or a real-life man with his lover, friend, enemy, etc. The scenes with Jennifer and Bill last week, two actors who had never worked together before, are an example of true acting skill - they seemed perfectly natural together, you forgot it was a show for a moment because they seemed like a real father and daughter comforting each other. Galen doesn't have that ability and unfortunately, the same is true for too many of the newer cast members.

The other problem with Rafe is that he has no development as a character. Sure he's done some decent things on the show but why on earth should I care about him. He just showed up one day and has been shoved into one forced scenario after another. The show has done nothing to help me know who Rafe is in more than a year so at this point I just don't care to know him anymore. He just moves from one plot point to another without any human emotion or history. He is written as a one-dimensional stock character but given the airtime that any wise soap would reserve for a well established core character of multiple dimensions and a long, rich history. Rafe has none of that. Days wanted to fast track him into a central role on the show and skipped way too many steps along the way - Rafe is never going to be the new "John Black" in Salem and the sooner Tomlin gets over himself and realizes his mistake the better off Days will be. If they wanted a new generation John Black, here's a thought, how about John's son Brady Black. You know, the character who has ties to the Brady, Kiriakis and DiMera families and who just happens to be portrayed by an attractive yet talented actor.
Like someone else said, thank you for saying what I didn't want to say. You're right. And I also liked your points about Brady, EM has done great things for the character. Kyle was a good Brady too but I always felt like there was just a little something missing.

I've been trying to figure out all day what Sami's sundress reminded me of today and finally found it...the dress that Lexie wore to Bope's last wedding. Not exactly the same but definately similar in that they are both sleeveless, low cut and have yellow and black floral patterns with more black in the lower portion of the dress and more yellow in the upper portion.

I am watching this episode now and here are my thoughts about it so far loving all these Alice flashbacks and all these trips down memory lane Alice as Groucho Marx,The trolly memory,Tom and Alice's wedding as everyone is sitting in the living room watching it. Kate looks so sad and I love that Bill wants to help her and the way that Bill looked at Kate today tells me that he is possibly still in love with her.

Great scene with Kate at the memorial sight with Alice and when Kate was saying her goodbyes she called her sweet lady too that was sweet. I loved Lucas line today There is no end only new beginnings that he said Alice once told him that was really great. I hope that those words he spoke winds up pretaining to him and Sami in the near future. Lets hope thats a really good sign that he along with Lumi are coming back once more this time for good and that everything truly falls into place for him and Sami Johnny and maybe possibly Sydney too depending on what the show decides for Sydney and much much more. Maggie talking to Mickey's picture was a really nice touch as well. I loved when Doug and Julie were looking through Alice's scrapbook together with other family members. Great Mike scene at the hospital with him talking to Alice.

Maybe this saying will pretain not only to him and Sami but other couples also,Bo and Hope,Shane and Kiimberly and Bill and Kate where things will fall in place for them as well. I found that line rather interesting when Lucas qouted it in today's episode what could it mean is it foreshadowing that good omens will fall in place for a lot of people all the ones I mentioned in Salem really soon.

Will Lucas quote this line again at his second uniterupted wedding to Sami in their wedding vows and if he does that would be really interesting. This line has a really truly special meaning behind it and it makes me wonder what this could all mean when Lucas qouted this line in today's episode. Any ideas. I found that quote interesting to say the lease when Lucas quoted it in todays episode.
