Keeping the LUMI love alive

The characters belong to Corday/Sony/Days of our Lives. The story is all mine. Rating: PG-13 Author: Luvinglumi Total Darkness (Chapter 7) Sami slowly closed the door enough to leave just a crack open so she can witness what was going on inside Lucas’ home. Emily and Lucas were engulfed in a passionate kiss. Emily’s hands were coupling his face while Lucas ‘left hand grabbed a hold of Emily’s hair. Sami felt sick to see him enjoying it so much and not stopping. She couldn’t take this any longer and decided to put a stop to whatever was going on. She decided to fling the door open again and quickly started coughing to make sure that they heard her. “Oh, who’s there?” exclaimed Lucas. “It’s Sami.” said Emily with a strange look of jealousy and amusement on her face. “Sami? What are you doing here? How did you get in?” Lucas questioned while turning his head in the direction of her voice. “I have a key for emergencies remember? And I decided to use it because I thought that you were sleeping upstairs and I didn’t want you or Will to come down in a hurry. But you aren’t sleeping are you? Or should I say, your sleeping with..” “But, why are you here? I thought you weren’t going to come back? You left Will here to help me , remember?” “Yeah, and I see you don’t need Will helping you, you have someone to make you feel all better, don’t you?” “Sami, you still haven’t answered my question.” “I felt strange leaving you alone with Will after our conversation so I spoke to Rafe and he and I agreed it was for the best that I come by and stay at least for tonight.” “Rafe?” Emily said softly but Sami still made it out. “Wow, that is exactly what I use to call my fiancée, his name was Rafael and he liked being called Rafe for short.” “My fiancee’s name is Rafael too.” Sami jumped. “Really?” Emily hesitated for a moment and then thought to herself that it couldn’t be the ‘same’ Rafe, right? No, it had to be someone else, Rafael was common enough and obviously Rafe would be the obvious choice to shorten the name. Lucas jumped into the conversation as he stood up from the couch, “listen ladies we don’t have to talk about old or current fiancées here, we can cook! I’m hungry, so let’s do it.” “Lucas, it’s late, you are suppose to be sleeping, why on earth would you want to start cooking a meal when it’s your bedtime.” “What am I a toddler, bedtime? Are you going to put me in a time out too? I can eat, sleep, and do whatever the hell I please at whatever time I want, remember.” “That is right, but I’m not going to be here to help you do that.” “Oh come on Sami, don’t you remember us cooking? We had fun cooking right?” “You remember?” Sami chimed in and her facial expression went from annoyance to a big smiling grin. “Sort of, I’m remembering more and more every day. I’m remembering a lot of the good stuff too all I need is one good moment to jog by memory back completely. That is ALL I need, just one good moment, something that drives all the memories back. Something powerful, real powerful.” Emily was feeling rather uncomfortable just standing there while Sami and Lucas chatted and she broke into their conversation. “Uhm, Lucas I’m going to go and I’ll be back tomorrow. I can start tomorrow, you clearly are in good company.” “Great.” exclaimed Sami as she glanced over to Emily. Emily looked at her rather puzzled and noted how jealous Sami seemed to be reacting, obviously she had witnessed the kiss and Emily simply didn’t care. “Great company I meant…I’m great company.” “Sure Sami.” chuckled Lucas, “ in every single way!” “You are not being serious Lucas, I am great company…you see I made you laugh.” “You do make me laugh, and I do remember making you laugh on more than one occasion.” “Yeah, remember when we had the silly underwear race, I locked you out of the room and you were in the hallway with nothing but your underwear. The look on your face was priceless when you realized what I had done.” “I actually didn’t remember that. What did we do again? An underwear race? What were we thinking?” “We weren’t and that is what always would get us in trouble, but it was great and I loved seeing you in your underwear.” “I bet you’re a sight in your underwear. So you were wearing nothing but a panty and bra, ha?” “Yep, and nothing else.” Sami smiled at him and for a moment hoped he would be able to see her expression. “WOW, that MUST HAVE been a sight!” Lucas wondered and then he snapped back to reality. “How big were your bloomers?” He chuckled “Bloomers? Stop it Lucas!” She said while she chuckled back. Lucas and Sami were so involved in discussing their past that they didn’t even realize that Emily had let herself out of Lucas’ home and they didn’t catch on until they accepted that they weren’t going to cook anything at such a late hour. “Emily left Lucas.” Sami noted as she got closer to Lucas. "I bet your thrilled.” “You didn’t want her to leave?” “No.” “Why?” “I like her, that’s why. She’s really nice, she’s helpful. She’s a great human being and I really, really enjoy her company. I like her a lot.” Sami knew Lucas liked Emily but she couldn’t grasp how much yet. She didn’t want him to move on but she knew he deserved it, plus she had moved on already a long time ago. She kept her composure, and said to Lucas, “You deserve happiness Lucas, you’ve been through so much, I hope Emily makes you happy, I hope your able to start a relationship with her and she makes you feel complete.” “I want that too. I want to be loved, I need to be loved Sami. I feel empty, and it’s not just the fact that I can’t see or remember, it’s I need something. I just need love. I need the warmth of another person next to me at night. I need to feel wanted again. I need to feel I'm making a difference in someone's life, I need to feel someone loves me.” "I l-l-ll..." Sami wanted to follow up with three simple but meaningful words but she couldn’t, not that she didn’t feel that way, but she would be betraying Rafe and he was so good to her, she owed him so much and it was time for Lucas to move on with his life and if Emily made him happy Sami would feel happiness for him as long as she treated him well. “Hey do you want some warm milk?” Lucas stated as he made his way into the kitchen. “You remember I liked warm milk with…” Sami stated as she followed him in only to have Lucas cut her off abruptly. “Honey. Yes, I remember that when you can’t sleep you would make yourself some warm milk with honey and that helps.” “What else have you remembered? The warm milk is a nice memory, I’m glad to know it’s not all bad you know. Like you said, you are finally remembering some good memories again. Some nice memories of us you know. Have you remembered anything else about us? Any OTHER nice moments?” “They are spotty, sporadic and at times I get close to remembering something I want to and then nothing. I want to remember one particular moment and I can’t. “ “What moment?” “It’s nothing. When I remember it, I’ll let you know.” “Then it must not be that important you know.” “Oh no, it’s important, actually…” Lucas hesitated for a minute. Should he tell her? What would she think? He didn’t care, he needed to say it or keep it in and he simply didn’t feel like doing that. “it’s the reason why Will is here, I want to remember that and the day I do I think many things will fall into place finally.” “You want to remember the first time we made love?” “Yes Sami I do, what’s so bad about that?” “Nothing Lucas, nothing is bad about that. It gave us the most amazing son ever and it healed me more than you could ever know. It also changed a lot of things, it changed who we were and that is one thing I regret.” “Healed you? Changed who we were?” “When you remember that moment you’ll know what I’m talking about. Hopefully you’ll remember why we did what we did and then it will all makes sense.” “Well we obviously were young, real young right?” “Yes Lucas, we were teens and we were hot heads, but boy we were great friends.” Lucas thought, friends? Friends with benefits obviously. He stopped his thoughts and then simply directed his head toward where Sami was standing. “Let’s stop talking about this now shall me, drink your milk and change to go to bed. Where will you be sleeping tonight? I can give you the bed upstairs and I’ll sleep on the couch.” “Lucas you don’t remember how many times we would just lay next to each other and just comfort sleep?” “No. Lay next to you and just sleep? Can’t imagine that Sami, no.” “Well we did it you know, many times and frankly there was a time that Salem’s residents were being attacked by a serial killer and frankly I was over your apartment and you were over mine more than I can remember and we always slept in the same bed. Never doing anything but we would always sleep in the same bed.” “I bet I slept over the covers and in full clothing.” “Actually not always, we got to cuddle a few times. You would sleep in your boxers most of the time. You would hug me and reassure me that all was going to be okay and you would stroke my hair and I would fall asleep in your arms because I would feel so secure with you there.” “Well, we’re not going to do that now. Will is upstairs and so is Allie. You are engaged and I want to see if I have a shot with Emily. ” Lucas was right and Sami knew it, Sami was about to get married so what the hell was she doing in her former husband’s home convincing him to sleep with her in the same bed? What was she thinking? What would Rafe say if he even suspected she was the one to offer that. “You are right. I’ll sleep upstairs and you’ll be on the couch right?” “Yes. Good night Sami.” Lucas said as he made his way to the couch. Sami moved up the stairs slowly. “Good night Lucas.” The next morning Lucas woke up and Sami wasn’t around but Emily had already arrived and had made her way up to Lucas’ bedroom. “Lucas?” “Hey... Emily, you’re here already? Wow! Where is Sami?” “Oh, she woke up early and headed home. She told me to tell you she won’t be back for a few days. She had errands to run, but will call you if anything comes up with the kids.” “Okay, well what do you have planned for today? Maybe we can go out somewhere, to the park or something? I’m sick of being home. You know just because I can’t see doesn’t mean that I can’t go outside.” “Oh, I agree Lucas. Let’s go.” They headed out and spent the afternoon in the park. They talked about life, kids, how he felt about her and what he wanted in a relationship. Emily was smitten with him and she was falling for Lucas very quickly and very hard. She was at a point that she could commit to a relationship with him if need be and she was just waiting for the perfect opportunity to tell him, but she didn’t have to wait long. “Emily, I want to ask you something?” “What?” “Listen, I know my life is complicated now and I know I have a past that is equally as complicated that I don’t remember, but I want to spend time with you. I want you as part of my life and if you’d like I want to see if you and I can start a relationship. If you don’t think it’s a good idea then let me know, I can wait. Or if your not interested, I understand.” “Not interested? Are you kidding? I wouldn’t have kissed you like that the other day if I wasn’t interested. I’m interested Lucas, actually very interested and I’d love to spend time with you more and start something if it’s right. I think we have a shot. I can feel it. My only reservation would have been Sami, but obviously if you feel inclined to forget about her and start something with me, then I’ll be very happy.” Lucas took Emily’s words in and he wanted to answer her but thought to himself, ‘how can I forget her when I can’t even remember?’ he knew what Emily meant and he knew she was right. Sami had someone else and he didn’t even know what if anything can still be salvaged from what he didn’t know about, except for being good parents to their children. “Good then, let’s give it a shot!” Lucas exclaimed as Emily came in for a kiss. Lucas was happy but Emily was happier. She finally had moved on from Rafe and with a man that knew nothing of her past and was willing to start a relationship anyway. “Perfect” she thought to herself. “that was nice Lucas, very nice.” “I wish I could see you Emily, but you know what, I can feel you and that is just right. That feels just right." Lucas extended his hand to grab hers. "This feels just right.” Emily paused and looked up at Lucas again and said to him, “Lucas, I think I’m falling in love with you. I know it’s too soon but I can’t help it. I hope that you’ll soon feel the same for me as what I’m feeling for you now.” “Give me time. I enjoy spending time with you and I can see myself falling for you in time. I’ve been through a lot you understand. Just give me time. A little bit of time you know.” “I’ll give you everything you need Lucas, everything.” Lucas and Emily kissed and made their way back home to Lucas house. Three months passed by and Sami was virtually only speaking with Lucas about the kids and she hadn’t seen him in all that time, only brief telephone conversations. It was the same routine every week, she would call him he would tell her a time. Sami would pull the car up into Lucas’ driveway. Allie and Will would dart out of the back of the car and Allie would sprint up to the front porch of Lucas’ house and ring the bell. Emily would open the door and Will and Allie would enter and Emily would politely wave at Sami and she would wave back. They didn’t exchange words, just waves and a fake smile and she was off again. The kids would spend their weekends with their father and his girlfriend while Sami ran errands and planned accordingly for her wedding. She would drive back up Lucas’ driveway every Sunday night around 8pm and she would honk the horn. Allie would dart out of her dad’s house and Will would follow, Ipod playing, earpods in ears, listening to his favorite song selection. They would both get into the back seat of Sami’s car and shut the door. Sami would look back toward Lucas’ porch hoping to see him there but she would only see Emily, who would give her the regular wave and the fake smile and she would shut the door. This time however Sami had forgotten something and she returned and rang the doorbell. She motioned to Will to keep an eye on Allie as the car was still running as she waited for someone to come to the door. Emily answered and was shocked to see Sami standing there. “Oh, I thought you guys left already?” “I forgot to give Lucas something. Is he around?” “He’s upstairs, can I help you with something?” Emily glanced over at Sami’s hand and realized that she was holding what appeared to be a very large ivory colored linen envelope. Sami hesitated for a moment as she tapped the envelope on one hand while grabbing it with the other. “I wanted Lucas to get this, do you think you can give it to him? It’s the invite to my wedding. I’ve made it out to Mr. Lucas Horton and guest. You are also invited.” “Thanks Sami, I’m make sure he gets this. When is the wedding? “ Emily questioned while trying to catch a glimpse of Sami’s engagement ring. “It’s just 2 months away, but Lucas has been to all my weddings and I want him at this one also.” “No problem, I’ll give this to him. Thanks Sami.” Sami nodded and smiled and turned around while heading back to the car. Emily closed the door and was looking at the envelope and decided to simply place it on the kitchen table so she wouldn’t forget to remind Lucas about it later and read it to him. (to be continued) |

Great chapter and its obvious that neither Emily or Lucas are over Sami or Rafe they are just using each other and Emily still wants Rafe and Lucas still wants Sami even though he can't remember everything. I love that Sami almost told Lucas that she loved him and that Sami got jealous and Sami is obviously still jealous of Emily and Lucas she doesn't like that Emily is there with Lucas and its getting to her. Oh boy to the upcoming Wedding between Sami and Rafe and Emily and Lucas are invited is going to have a huge effect on all four of them what will Rafe say when he sees his Emily again and how will Emily react seeing her Rafe again something is going to happen here and Sami is going to see just how much Rafe and Emily still love each other and will Lucas and Sami wind up getting alone together as well will Will and Allie have a plan to bring Sami and Lucas together I guess we will see won't we. Will both Sami and Lucas wind up kissing each other and realize they too still love each other and they don't stop and wind up being all over each other and can't stop themselves because they truly missed one another boy that would be something if they were wouldn't it and how would they break the news about still wanting to be with one another to Emily and Rafe. Somethings going to happen that I sense or Sami winds up calling off the wedding still being jealous of Emily being around Lucas and the kids where she will want to get rid of her. Ok I'm all caught up! Awesome story so far! I absolutely love it!! I really love the way you have written Emily so far and the fact that she is in love with Lucas. This is what I always wanted the idiot writers to do, give Lucas another love, someone who would love him and not feel like cheating on him. Even though I know ultimately Emily belongs with Rafe, I love that she has really fallen in love with Lucas. He deserves that kind of love, and if it can't be with Sami for now then he deserves it with someone else. I hope TIIC are reading this wonderful story and getting ideas for when they decide to bring Lucas back and introduce Emily. Now this is the kind of quad I would love to see. And the best part is rapist is nowhere to be found. Thank you! Looking forward to your next chapter! |
