AfterElton - a gay pop culture site - has an interview with Chandler Massey and Deidre Hall here. It's primarily about Will's coming out process and his relationship with Marlena. Follow the link to read it all, but I'll quote the Lumi-related parts:

Quote:

AE: So what’s coming next for Will? Lucas is back…
CM: Lucas comes back and that’s going to be a lot of drama and a lot of fun. At this point, the thing I can tease is that it’s taken Will so long to get to this point, and I really appreciate the time that it’s taking to tell the story rather than rushing it. I think with this kiss there’s the point of no return, and it starts to pick up and kind of come to kind of a resolution in a way pretty soon.

AE: What is Will’s relationship with Lucas now that he’s back? Are they in a good place?
CM: Yes, they are. He’s been in China for a couple of years, and I think Will and Lucas have always had a pretty strong bond. So he comes back and it’s a little awkward at first, but they quickly fall into the father/son rapport. They pick up where they left off, basically.

AE: Does Lucas pick up on what’s going on with Will, or does that take awhile?
CM: I think it takes a little while, and Will doesn’t expect Lucas to come in and immediately know what’s going on with him since he’s been gone. So it does take a little while for that to come out.

AE: At this point, Will and Sami are still very much at odds, and he’s not giving her much of a break. But what do you think? Do you think he should stay mad at her, or should he just forgive her at this point?
CM: I understand why they’re dragging out the conflict, but I’m the first person that’s a fan of Will's and I love my character and I think his anger is completely justified. But I guess that it’s so important to forgive.

She’s done worse things before and really it’s not necessarily even about the whole sleeping with EJ thing even though Will constantly brings that up. At the source of it is that Will’s confused and he’s scared to come out to his Mom. He thinks that she should probably know already, and just the fact that she doesn’t seem to be there for him and doesn’t seem to be aware in the slightest way. That’s the real issue there, and he’s kind of taking out his frustration and his insecurities on her. She’s an easy target.

In the "here" up above? If that doesn't work, use this:

I should mention that there are some mild spoilers in that interview for what's coming in this storyline. Very mild.

Yeah, I figured it was something like that.

It's an interesting take on Will's anger towards Sami. I hadn't thought of it in quite that way, but it does make sense. "Why don't you know?!? Everybody else seems to, and you're my mother!"

I can get the why didn't you know bit, but honestly, Will didn't even know. Throw in missing kids and shooting an ex and, well, just saying.

I understand his reaction but hopefully as time helps heal things between them, he'll come to that realization on his own. (or with Lucas' help). When you're young often things seem so black and white, but as you mature you start seeing the numerous shades of gray (at least that's been my own personal experience with life).

I definitely agree that the anger Will feels for Sami isn't simply about what happened with EJ and I can see it being more rooted in his fear of her rejection than anything else. IMO, It has nothing to do with how good/bad Sami is as a parent but just how Will feels about himself. I don't think it is uncommon for teens and very young adults to feel uncomfortable with themselves and therefore expect rejection from the people they love most, and it isn't limited to those struggling with issues of sexual orientation. I'm a straight female who was raised by wonderful parents. I was never angry toward them the way Will is being but I kept a lot back from them and had a lot of walls built to keep distance between us at that age because I was afraid if they knew me better they would be disappointed. It was all completely needless in retrospect and thankfully a short phase. It had nothing to do with anything my parents had done, it was just me not being okay with me yet. The more I grew up the more I liked me and the more I let my parents back into my life.

Id do think it's unfair of Will to think Sami should know he is gay and if she noticed that something was going on with him and asked I doubt that he would have been honest. I'm very interested to see what Sami's reaction is going to be.
